How Kids4Change Came to be

"Children have always been a passion of mine, and I always felt that we were doing too little as a community to ensure our future (children) are taken care of. Coming from a disadvantaged childhood myself, I have firsthand experience of the challenges children face daily.

 

On a freezing cold July morning in 2022, I was requested to deliver some things to a friend’s tuck-shop on a small holding in Trichardt, Mpumalanga. Although freezing cold, and before seven am, there were already small children playing in the communal park. Some were without shoes. This touched my heart in a profound way, and I decided to do everything I can, to alleviate the suffering of children. And I believe that education is the key to change.

 

By January 2023, I opened my first nursery school at said small holding, and started with 12 children in total, ranging from ages 2 – 9 years. I funded this project from my own pocket, and provided breakfast, snacks, and lunch. It was a challenging couple of months, but worth it! However, I quickly came to realize that funding such projects from your own pockets is not sustainable, and after doing some homework, Kids 4 Change was created. I am extremely excited. This would also enable me to help more children by opening more schools.

 

On this journey I met some extraordinary people. People who encouraged and supported me without knowing how or why, but by simply just believing in my dream to change the future of our children, communities, and country. They gave me hope with small acts of kindness and big generous contributions. And I can honestly say; It does indeed, take a community to raise a child.

The Purpose of Kids4Change

The purpose of starting Kids 4 Change was to ensure that every child, regardless of their backgrounds and socio-economic status, have the opportunity to receive a high quality, early childhood education. By opening low-cost/free nursery schools, Kids 4 Change aims to provide a nurturing and stimulating environment where children can develop essential skills, foster their curiosity, and lay a strong foundation for their future academical and personal success.

Our team of passionate staff and volunteers work tirelessly to educate and inform. Through collaborate efforts, we strive to ensure every child has the same opportunity.

 

We rely mostly on the generosity of donors and partners to support our mission and make a difference in the lives of those we serve.
